theOtherMermaid

After reading Wanna's Chinese version of "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield, I came up with one short story of my own-the result of an inspiration from Vida Winter, a famous author in the novel. Vida Winter wrote a series of twisted fairy tales called "13 tales of Change and Desperation" in the book, and somehow after reading it I decided to try writing a story with a similiar theme.

The story's in Chinese though, I'll try to translate it into English over the weekends. To understand the story better, you may need to read a summary of the original version of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid". Comments please, dear readers!

Ever heard excuses which sounds worse than "The dog ate my homework."?

I wonder whether other students have encountered the same bizarre reason for lack of textbooks as this is what Ms.Julie Cook told us what the person in charge told her when we asked her today why MC Mart is still out of Approaches to Reading texbooks:

"The driver who was supposed to send the books had an accident and died."

She said she's not sure whether this is the truth while our jaws hit the ground in disbelief. I really can't tell whether this means the driver died on the books and damaged it all with his spilled guts or his entire van exploded into a zillion teeny weeny pieces, for these are the only connections a dead driver seems to have with lost textbooks.

The next thing you know will be someone telling us that our College Grammar textbooks are on the same delivery van.
